Women's Coat & Jacket Sewing Patterns
At Vintage Sewing Pattern Company, we are in love with our fabulous collection of Swing, Swagger, Cape, Street, Tuxedo Coat; Land-girl, Peplum, Nehru Jacket; Safari Culotte Suit patterns from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Unlike today, when a woman could choose to make more than one coat in any one season, our counterparts during earlier eras would have to choose very wisely or make do! Most women had one coat that was made to last several seasons or even years. Because of this, women in my own deepest opinion I may add had their own uniqueness and style. Often overcoats were bland because it had to match the rest of your wardrobe. If you had an alternative overcoat, other words more than one coat, which was more the luxury of women who could afford such extravagances. Often the ‘alternative’ coat would be out of fashion the following year as usually the quality wasn’t near as good as the first choice. This is a lesson we must have all learnt when choosing our wardrobe – Quality always wins over quantity. Why wear a mediocre coat or even a jacket sometimes, when you can wear a fabulous coat or jacket all of the time? Get the look, rock it and nail it!
Our vintage coat & jacket sewing pattern collection is available in sizes ranging from XXS – XXL. We offer either the original pattern, a high-quality true to scale sewing pattern reproduction or an easy PDF sewing pattern to download at home.
