Trouser legs were wide around the ankle or as later named – baggy or oxford bags. They were either straight hemmed at the bottom as the war required. The men’s fashion soon preferred having a two- inch trouser cuff or turn-up as they were later called. This style of trouser, was the opposite of the skinny trousers of today, which are more like the 1960s ‘peg’ or tapered trousers.
