SEWING NOTIONS
Thread, six strand embroidery cotton in desired colours.

This pattern contains directions, cutting guides, embroidery transfers and pattern pieces for making Jiffy-halter in small (10-12), medium (14-16) and large (18-20) sizes.
RECOMMENDED FABRICS
Percale, Denim, gingham, broadcloth or any similar fabric; six strand embroidery cotton if required.
REQUIREMENTS
Use 35'' (86cm) wide Fabric
Halter with Embroidered Straps; All sizes require 1 1/4 yards fabric; six strand embroidery cotton in desired colours.
Halter with Contrasting Upper Bodice: All sizes require 1 yard of main fabric; small size requires 1/4 yard contrast, medium and large sizes require 3/8 yard contrast.

CUTTING DIRECTIONS
Follow directions printed on each pattern piece. 1/2" seam allowance is included on each piece. Follow Cutting Guide for placement of pattern on fabric. (NOTE: Halter With Contrasting Upper Bodice only - Place (C.6) UPPER FRONT on contrasting fabric, then follow Cutting Guide for placement of remainder of pattern pieces.) Mark the construction details on fabric exactly as on pattern. Cut a 1-1/4" x 11" strip of fabric on the bias for binding top of (C.6) UPPER FRONT.
STAMPING DIRECTIONS
Cut transfers away from pattern. Lay two straps ((C.4) STRAP and (C.1 STRAP)) (forming left and right strap) on an ironing board and remove any wrinkles. Evenly-space and pin transfers, printed side down, securely to straps. Test heat from iron on trial motif and press over transfers with a moderately hot iron).

EMBROIDERY
Divide the 6 stranded embroidery cotton, and using 3 strands, work continuous lines in (J) OUTLINE STITCH, short lines in (H) SINGLE STITCH; loops in (I) LAZY DAISY stitch; dots in (G) FRENCH KNOT. Embroider straps before sewing halter together.
SEWING DIRECTIONS
[1]. Make 2 rows of running stitches at upper edge of UPPER FRONT (C.6) and gather to 10"
[2] With rights side together, stitch bias strip to this edge, adjusting gathers, making 1/4" seam. Turn under raw edge and hem to seam on inside. [3]. Gather lower edge of (C.6) UPPER FRONT between notches. [4] Join (C.6) UPPER FRONT to (C.5) LOWER FRONT, drawing in gathers so notches match. [5] With right sides together, stitch straps at centre back. Repeat for strap facings
[6] With rights sides together, stitch each (C.1) STRAP and (C.4) STRAP to facing along outer edge and along neck edge between O's. Trim seam, clip curves, turn to right side.
[7] With rights sides together, stitch under edge of a and y below O to armhole edge of upper bodice. Turn under raw edge of strap facing, hem to inside of seam. [8] With right sides together, stitch front to backs at sides. [9] Finish upper raw edge of back with bias or make 3/8" hem.
[10] With rights sides together, stitch each tie ((C.2) TIE and (C.3) TIE) to the facing leaving, leaving short straight and open. Turn to the right side. With right sides together, match notches and stitch ties to back. [11] Turn under lower edge of back on line indicated, hem,
