50s Starlet Dress Pattern

Sew your own timeless look with this 1950s Starlet Dress sewing pattern. Designed with a softly curved yoke that mimics a short bolero, it features buttoned self-bands creating a flattering neckline and cut-in-one short sleeves for a smooth, vintage fit. The four-gore, moderately flared skirt gives a classic fit-and-flare silhouette perfect for retro dressmaking.

View 1: Glamorous in lace and lined for an authentic 1950s evening dress.
View 2: Unlined version for plain or printed fabrics — add a decorative bow or novelty belt for a true mid-century touch. Sewing pattern cover features Gloria Swanson.

Offered here as: Paper Pattern.  This pattern is also available as a PDF download

How to Measure Your Bust

  1. Wear a well-fitting bra.
  2. Wrap a measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.
  3. Keep the tape level across your back and comfortably snug, without pulling it tight.
  4. Record your measurement in inches or centimetres and compare it with our size chart.

For the best fit, always choose your pattern size based on your body measurements, not your usual shop size. Always check your bust measurement before ordering!
