Collection: Vintage 1940s Beach Pajamas & Bathing-suits Patterns
Swimwear marked a move toward greater freedom while remaining modest. One-piece suits featured skirt panels, thin straps and covered silhouettes, while two-piece styles emerged as a precursor to the bikini. Beach pyjamas offered a stylish cover-up. Although bikinis appeared late in the decade, attitudes limited their acceptance until the 50s. See 1940s Fashion Styles.
