Lumber Jacket Pattern
1940's Lumber Jacket You'll be sewing for victory in this Wartime, Land Girl inspired Lumber/Bomber Jacket pattern, also known as an Eisenhower Jacket.
The 1940s marked a significant period in history, especially during World War II, when many men were drafted into military service, leaving job vacancies that women stepped in to fill. In the lumber industry, women took on roles traditionally held by men, including logging and forestry work. These women became known as "LumberJills," similar to the male lumberjacks.
WOMEN'S JACKET: In Styles I, II and V, the front buttoning jacket, gathered at the lower edge, is joined to a waist bond and finished with bishop sleeves. Styles and have small pointed collars.
Style Il is collarless and the front is trimmed with two patch pockets. The collar and sleeves of Style V are in contrasting fabric and the front is finished with patch pocket.
Styles III and IV are collarless; and do not button down the front. Style Il is joined to a front-buttoning waist band and patch pockets Trim the front.
Offered here as a Paper Pattern or the Original Pattern. This pattern is also available as a PDF download.
